Hi Everyone
December has arrived! The days get ever shorter, they get ever colder. Noddy Holder and Roy Wood have finally emerged from hibernation. Turkeys start getting nervous and hope that christmas is just a cruel rumour. The Queen takes a look at her Christmas Message and thinks "not again! If Charles is so keen to have my job, he can bloody do it!"
But it's not all bad news, equally bad weather and some bloke telling us that he's "driving home for christmas" on every radio station in the land (apart from on 6Music where Lauren Laverne will be playing a cement mixer accompanied by some random beats and some bloke with a beard) It also happens to be time to let you know what's happening at the Rising Sun this weekend!!
On Friday evening The Rising Sun presents: THE FALL OF ICARUS
We bring you a fully collaborative, multimedia art exhibition, featuring Reading's most talented arists including JAKOB MILLARD, OLIVIA STAGG, ANGELA FARRUGIA, ROBERT FITZMAURICE, ANASTASIA VOUTSA and more
For more info, have a look at https://www.facebook.com/events/637057903101106/ or contact Alibhe at [email protected] or Jo at [email protected]
We're open from 6pm to 11pm and it's absolutely FREE!
On Saturday, SCARLET VIXENS present: WHEN WE'RE GROWN UPS
The Scarlet Vixens invade the Rising Sun Arts Centre once more! This time, they're reverting back to our childhoods; get ready to see just what The Scarlet Vixens want to be when we're grown-ups!
Taking you back in time on this bobby dazzler of a show will be:
LILYANA L'AMOUR
MOJO JONES
LAYLA CHERRY
LADY LISETTE RUBY
LORETTA LEBONKE
TOOTSIE LA ROCQUE
Our resident DJ TANIA TWINKLE will be spinning some classics as usual, and our favourite potty-mouthed Northerner and all round stunner MISS KITTY PIMMS will be hosting the evening.
We'll be open at 8pm and tickets are still available for £10 at the door
Finally on Sunday, we're pleased to be bringing you our CHRISTMAS ART MARKET
An excellent opportunity to buy unique, handmade original works of art and craft direct from local artists.
Browse stalls on two floors selling paintings, jewellery, printmaking, photography, ceramics, textiles and more. Not only do we give you a chance to put the fun back into Christmas shopping, while supporting local artists, but a chance to relax and treat yourself to homemade cakes, snacks and mulled wine in cosy cafe bar.
There's also live music and family Christmas art activities to give you that festive feeling!
We'll be open from 11am to 5pm and it's absolutely FREE!
That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
Have a nice weekend!
