Tribute Night: Beck

Price:
Free admission, but donations will be taken during the event - suggested £5 minimum

The 2014 autumn edition of Tribute Night is devoted to the postmodern eclecticism of Beck, from soul prankster to melancholic troubadour and all stops in between.

Just when Prince seemed to misplace his mojo in the mid-’90s, another mononymic, multi-instrumental, musical magpie appeared to be discovering his.  Like Prince, Beck’s early work was very much grounded in the music of his peers, in Beck’s case the anti-folk movement and the noise rock of Sonic Youth.  He developed quickly into an artist of astonishing breadth, vision and ambition, confounding listeners with each genre-hopping, boundary-defying album and rarely sitting still.  Beck has proved himself time and again with music that is artistically challenging, culturally relevant and commercially appealing.

The song list is filling up quickly, so send an email to [email protected] if you fancy throwing your hat into the ring.  Inclusion is the thing here at Tribute Night, so just jump in!  You can also join the mailing list to keep abreast of all Tribute Night doings including forthcoming nights and other special events.

Admission is free, but keep at least a fiver aside in that tiny pocket-within-a-pocket in your jeans to donate when a friendly looking person thrusts a cash-hungry hat towards you during the interval.

Doors open at 8pm for a prompt 8:30pm start.
