“Although we had no money, I was rich as I could be, in my coat of many colors, my momma made for me.”
The Trib Train keeps on a-rumblin’ through the lush landscape of popular music, and the 2024 autumn edition takes us to Dollywood, baby!
From her Coat Of Many Colors to her wigs of many sizes, no dream was too big or mountain too high for this rags-to-rhinestones country girl who turned the world into her stage.
Dolly Parton is an international legend of country music, and the original and most successful country-to-pop crossover star. With a career spanning nearly 60 years, Parton has written thousands of songs, had 25 No 1 singles and 44 Top 40 albums on the Billboard country chart, and received 11 Grammy awards out of 50 nominations, including the Lifetime Achievement Award.
At this event, expect to hear a variety of folks playing a variety of Dolly Parton songs in a variety of ways, some faithfully, some surprisingly, some ill-advisedly...
If you want to be involved and play a song or two, then email Zac at [email protected]. You can bagsy a slot first if you haven’t decided on a song.
If you are a musician/singer and you want to be involved, but you don’t know other people to play or sing with, send an email and we’ll have a go at matching you up with others.
If you want to record yourself performing a Dolly song, or indeed any song by any artist previously featured at Tribute Night, please send to me to post on the Tribute Night Facebook page.
As usual, there is no admission fee, but donations will be collected during the interval – suggested donation £5 – cash, card or QR code to PayPal.
All donations go to the Rising Sun Arts Centre, which is a registered charity funded mostly by its own earned income, and staffed by volunteers.
